Introducing the Park

Stretching down to the sea-front, the Palais’ 11-hectare (26 acres) Park is home to a precious biodiverse environment and offers an unparalleled urban experience right in the heart of Lomé.

Its historical alleyways and beautiful landscaping are shaded by centuries-old tropical trees.

The Park contributes to promoting Togo’s natural resources. It is a one-of-a-kind space, as Lomé is the only coastal capital city in West Africa to boast such a large Park in a sea-front area. Our project stays true to this remarkable space and has added plants that take visitors on a journey through the landscapes in Togo.

The Park is divided into the following sections:

  • The Garden of Sea Plants, featuring plants from Togo’s sandy shores
  • The Grass Savannah, featuring the palm and cactus garden
  • The Ocean Alleyways, highlighting plants known for their exceptional flowering, creating a remarkable visual impact
  • The Enchanted Forest, offering a unique experience to visitors walking under the shade of trees with a profusion of lianas and ferns, complete with fogging effects
  • A Cultivated Forest will be planted to raise awareness on the potential of agroforestry to fight deforestation

50.000 vegetal plants in total were planted during the revamping of the Park, a conservation space for endangered botanical species in Togo.
